Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

This post is regarding the claims that are spread throughout social media claiming the school management has banned the Hijab for muslim students and teachers. The school management would like to clarify and confirm that the Hijab is definitely NOT BANNED as per government regulations. The only attires banned are the Burqa and the Niqab. The posts that are circulating on social media are due to a miscommunication where the school asked the muslim students whether they can wear the head-covering Scarf/Shayla instead of the regular muslim school uniform if the religion permits it. This request was done due to security reasons, but it is always up to the students to make their choices. Therefore, there are no restrictions for students or teachers who wear the regular muslim school uniform. Negombo South International School is a multi-religious/multicultural school which respects all religions equally. Please share this information with everyone you know. Thank you.
