Bolawalana Nimala Maria Maha Vidyalaya is created aiming,Bolawalana church ,Negombo with the Portuguese domination in Sri lanka. At the same time, this school fostered as four school separately

* Bolawalana Girls School
* Bolawalana Montessori School
* Bolawalana Residential School
Those schools under the re-organization of education in 1972, turned into one school as junior school. In the year 1985 it was transferred as Bolawalana Maha Vidyalaya which was junior school. From that date till to date it was developed and in the year 2005.It was named as Bolawalana Nimala Maria Maha Vidyalaya and children are receiving education under a good atmosphere illuminating their future life.
