We have now entered the final half of the 150th Anniversary Celebration Year of our beloved alma mater. Among the many events and celebrations held during this historic year, there is one project that will remain for generations to come , the renovation of the College Main Administration Building.
This project commenced on 3rd August 2025. Since then, the journey has not been easy. There were challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. Yet, despite all difficulties, we , the Old Boys of Prince of Wales’ College, have kept this project moving forward with commitment, courage, and love for our school.
As the OBA, we would like to specially mention a few significant moments in this journey so far:
Supply of scaffolding free of charge
This was one of the biggest boosts at the initial stage of the project. We sincerely appreciate the generous support of Mr. Eranga Windsor, a distinguished Cambrian, who provided the scaffolding free of charge. Even today, the same scaffolding continues to be used for this work. His contribution gave this project a strong foundation at a crucial moment.
Breaking the silence by 93 Cambrians
We all know that there was a period when this project went through a silent and difficult phase, especially due to the negative campaign carried out by a few parties. At that critical point, the 93 Group came forward and sponsored the renovation cost of the two-storey section of the building. That support became the turning point of the project. It broke the silence, restored confidence, and encouraged many others to step forward. Since then, contributions have gradually increased as trust in the transparency and genuine purpose of the project has grown.
It is the duty of every Cambrian
As loyal Cambrians, we have always come forward individually and collectively for the betterment of our college on many occasions. But preserving and restoring the iconic Main Administration Building of our alma mater is a responsibility that stands above all. This is not just another project. This is our heritage. This is our pride. This is our duty.
Therefore, we warmly invite all Cambrians to join hands for this worthy cause and become part of a lasting contribution to our school. Let us come together and complete this valuable work for the benefit of present and future generations.

It has not been an easy task. However, with the generous support of all grateful Cambrians, the project is progressing successfully. Both the right and left sections of the building have now been renovated and restored to their original glory. The center section, which is a two-story structure requiring extensive renovation work, will be undertaken as the next phase of the project, scheduled to commence in 2026.

As promised earlier, the Cambrians 93' Alumni have generously donated the first tranche of their contribution towards the Renovation of the College Main Administration Building . They have kindly undertaken the sponsorship of the central two-storey section of the building, representing the final stage of Phase I of this important project. Their timely and heartfelt generosity at such a critical juncture is deeply appreciated and stands as an inspiring example for other groups and individuals to emulate.

The Class of ’80 stepped forward and made a generous donation towards the ongoing restoration project of the college’s Main Administration Building. This contribution was made during the 121st Annual General Meeting of the OBA.

Old Cambrian Mr. Melantha Perera, representing the Class of ’80, officially handed over the donation to Mr. Damindra Kudaligama, the President (Acting) and Principal of the OBA.
