Islamic Day Celebration – Lakeland Inter American School Matara

Lakeland Inter American School Matara proudly celebrated Islamic Day, providing students with an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the values, traditions and cultural heritage of Islam. The programme featured a recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha, inspiring speeches, Islamic songs and educational presentations that highlighted the importance of peace, compassion, respect and unity.

The event encouraged cultural understanding and mutual respect among students while promoting the values of inclusivity and harmony within the school community. We extend our sincere gratitude to our guest speaker, Maulawi Hizam Al Farsi, our students, teachers, and parents for their valuable contributions in making this celebration both meaningful and memorable.

International Art Competition – Celebrating South African National Day

Lakeland Inter-American School, Matara, was honored to participate in an International Art Competition organized in celebration of South African National Day.

Out of the four artworks submitted by our talented students, two artworks were selected for the final exhibition, while the other two participants received Certificates of Participation in recognition of their creative efforts.

At Lakeland, we continuously encourage our students to engage in international value-added competitions that promote creativity, cultural understanding, and global exposure.

The awards were presented by the South African Ambassador together with the Directors of the SUNFO Federation.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our young artists for their outstanding achievement and for proudly representing Lakeland Inter-American School, Matara, on an international platform.

With hearts filled with gratitude and reverence, Lakeland Inter American School Matara was blessed to organize a meaningful Dharma Deshanaya in commemoration of the sacred Vesak season.

Vesak reminds us of the Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinibbana of Lord Buddha, inspiring us to cultivate wisdom, compassion, kindness and mindfulness in our daily lives. The Dharma Deshanaya provided a valuable opportunity for our students, staff and parents to reflect on the timeless teachings of the Buddha and strengthen the values that guide us toward becoming responsible and compassionate individuals.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ven. Shanthadewa Thero of Thotamuna Jaya Maha Viharaya, who conducted the sermon and shared invaluable insights into the Dhamma. We also thank our students, parents, teachers, and the entire Lakeland community for their participation and support in making this spiritual event a success.

May the blessings of the Triple Gem bring peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity to all. May this Vesak season inspire us to walk the path of wisdom, compassion, and harmony, contributing positively to our families, communities, and society.

ගෞරවයෙන් හා කෘතවේදීත්වයෙන් පිරි හදවතින් යුතුව, පින්බර වෙසක් සමය නිමිත්තෙන් අර්ථවත් ධර්ම දේශනාවක් සංවිධානය කිරීමට ලේක්ලන්ඩ් ඉන්ටර් ඇමරිකන් පාසල - මාතර වෙත භාග්‍යය උදා විය.

වෙසක් මංගල්‍යය මගින් අපට බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ උත්පත්තිය, බුද්ධත්වය සහ පරිනිර්වාණය සිහිපත් කර දෙන අතර, ප්‍රඥාව, කරුණාව, මෛත්‍රිය සහ සිහිකල්පනාවෙන් යුතුව ජීවත් වීමට අපව දිරිගන්වයි. මෙම ධර්ම දේශනාව අපගේ සිසුන්ට, කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට සහ දෙමාපියන්ට බුදු දහමේ සදාකාලික ඉගැන්වීම් පිළිබඳ මෙනෙහි කරමින්, වගකීම් සහගත හා දයානුකම්පිත පුද්ගලයන් බවට පත්වීමට මඟ පෙන්වන වටිනාකම් තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කර ගැනීමට අනගි අවස්ථාවක් විය.
