In 1926, a Few villagers of pamburana had assembled at Sri Valukarama temple and had established "Vidyawardana Buddhist society" to start a school for the buddhist students. They had discussed the importance of a school as a result of this discussion they had achieved their success and in November 1927 they began Matara Shariputhra Vidyalaya in the land of Pinwatta.
