St.Servatius College was established on the 02nd of November 1897 by a Belgian Rev.Father Augustus Standard on a small block of land on the bank of river Nilwala at Pallimulla, Matara. The college becomes called after the saint, Bishop St. The only other St. Servatius' college goes had been also established in Belgium in memory pre-mentioned saint Servatius. It has been laid later by the present meeting place under the clientele the Christian missionaries who cleared the way for west education in Ceylon then (Sri Lanka). Servatius' college was founded on the 2nd November, 1897, by the Belgian Rev. Father Augustus Standard on a small block of the land at the bank of River Nilwala in Pallimulla, Matara. After some years the school was exchanged to the present position where the school stands in Kotuwegoda, Matara. In 1961 with taking over from private schools to the government this college was taken over by the education department and till 1965 administer by Catholic Fathers.
