An insightful discussion with the street vendor community in Matara as part of a collaborative research initiative led by Prof. Donella Caspersz from the University of Western Australia, in partnership with Prof. A.C. Karunaratna from the University of Ruhuna. The Small Enterprises Development Division also participated in this visit, adding their expertise to the conversation.
This engagement provided valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities faced by street vendors, contributing to our ongoing efforts to understand and support their role in the local economy.

The Hon" Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Mr.Sunil Hadunneththi participated as the Chief Guest of the "Five Chamber of Commerece Executive Meeting" held at Matara District Chamber of Commerce premises on last saturday(7).

At this moment, Hambatota, Rathnapura, Monaragala, Galle and Matara District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, emphasized issues and expecting solutions, where the business community are facing over the time, and new strategies for made policy level towards the business community enhancement.

The Matara District Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with SDB Bank Matara successfully completed a "Business Loan Scheme" program for SMEs in Matara region.
