At the veryout set were only the head master and an assistance teacher. The total number of students was limited to sixty. The main aim of conducting this school was to spread religion.With the school consisted of two buildings thatched with cadjans and a small room was utilized for the office room. Rathnayaka was appointed as the first and foremost principal. By then the school had no play ground. So the ground where the present canteen is situated was used for the play ground. The place was then smothered by woods and it was considered a difficult place to get access. Then the school was limited only to a few villages which were in the vicinity.Among the students taught were mathematics, arithmetic’s, English language and Religion (Christianity). The school went on in the normal way, Until Mr. Piyasiri became the principle of this school to get progression. Due to enthusiasm and courage of this principal school got too more temporary buildings and the number increased up to 200 students. It could be regarded as a victory gained by the school. By them there was a formal education system and were to sections as junior and senior. The junior section was in charge of Mr.Amarasiri. English was the medium of language. The golden era of Ku/Wellawa M.V is considered in 1950. During that period the principal was Mr. Considering several permanent buildings that period, is a significant event. Also improvement of extra curricular activities could be seen. Holding societies as well as associations, festivals and functions were held too them. The most significant incident or grate victory of school was a child selection to the university at that time. Up to 1955 it remained a missionary school but in 1956 it became a Buddhist school. As his successors Mr. H Jinadasa and Mr. Mahaliyana acted as principals. After them a grate progress was brought to school by Mr. Munasuinghe, A renounced principal who rendered a yeomen service. During his time the discipline of children of wallwa maha vidyalaya was on a high level. Another important event was changing two sessions in to one session. By then Mr. H.M.P Herath was acting as the principal. In 1984 for the first time a student was selected to the medical faculty. New buildings were put up by prefect Committee. Thus Ku/ Wellawa M.V had a rapid development in various sections. In that time the principal was Mrs. Kamala Rajapakshe the year was 1991. She brought the school up the present level through her dedication to her service. School got library building to permanent buildings a two storied building and a pavilion. In 2000, Mr. Nawarathna started working as acting principal until Mr. Samaranayake Became the principal on 25th of August 2000. In 2002 Ku/Wellawa M.V became Ku/Wellawa central college. Later in keeping with the name of college it was able to challenge other leading school in the town. Then Mr. E.M.P.M.B Ekanayaka was the principal of Ku/Wellawa Central College. He also did an inestimable service to school. G.H Ananda became the principal of Ku/Wellawa C.C. After his retirement Mr. D.M.T.B Dissanayaka took over the challenge to improve the school in every section. Up to now he is doing a great service to the school.
