We are saddened to announce the passing of Upali Dassanayaka, former race rider and a pioneer in Sri Lankan Motorsports.
A glimpse of Upali`s journey in motorsports,
Started Motor sports in 1974 and won many racers in Katukurunda, Rathmalana & Katunayake racing circuits and Kurunegala. 1974-1983 Competed and won many races in 125 cc,250cc,350cc, 750cc and Open class. Raced Nuwaraeliya and Kandy Road racers and still holds two course records for the fastest time in Nuwaraeliya and Kurunegala, established in 1983. Represented Sri Lanka National Racing team for All India International Motorcycle Races in 1981 and 1983. 1982-1994 Pioneering President of the Association Motorcycles Importers Association. 1989-Established the SLRRA and Appointed as the First president and Pannala Racing Circuit. 1994-2007 Advisor of the Motorcycle Importers Association. 2007 Re-Appointed as President of the Motorcycle Importers Association. 1989,2015-Present Serving as the uncontested president of the SLRRA.(Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association). 2012-2017 President of the Federation of Motorcycle sports in Sri Lanka(Governing Body).
The journey of wonderful memories came to an end…!
