Dharmaraja College, Kandy is one of the most prestigious Buddhist Boy's Schools in Sri Lanka. Sir Henry Steel Olcot is the founder of College and it was started with only 12 students at the plot of land in front of the Old Palace near the Temple of Tooth Relic , adjoining the Natha Devalaya. Dharmaraja College Old Boys' Union - Colombo Branch inaugurated in 1914 is presently a well organised association which actively contributing to the success of our Alma Mater. The Union maintains a Development Fund (an approved charity), generating contributions from Old Rajans to provide funds for the development activities of the school. Funds have been provided by this Union for a number of recent projects including the new Auditorium, Playground and the Swimming Pool Complex. The immediate project in hand is the expansion of the ground for Rugby, and the Sports Pavilion. Apart from the development activities, the Union annually contributes to award Prizes and Scholarships at the College Prize Giving, Awards for Sportsmen at the Colours Night and to all School Activities. Special attention is paid to the Sports Activities, including the provision of board and lodging for the Sports Teams that visit Colombo for Inter School Tournaments. Membership of the Union is open to the Old Rajans in any part of the Country. Only Life Members are enrolled. The Life Membership Fee is Rs. 1,500/= only. Annual events for the gathering of members are the Annual General Meeting, Bodhi Poojawa in Commemoration of the College Anniversary on 30th June, the Annual Dinner Dance in August and the Annual Trip. Arrangements are also made for the members to participate in the school events including the Big Match with Kingswood College. All the Rajans are invited to join this group and serve for the betterment of Mother Dharmaraja.
