According to the requirements of the student population in the area, the School was started on 01st of February 1972, with 158 students , 5 teachers and one building with the contributing of parliament minister M.D.H Jayewardhana. L.D Premarathne and the staff were Mr. I Wanigathunga , Mrs.P.V.D Dharmawathi and Mrs. P. Akarawita. After the retirements of the first Principle Mr. L.D Premarathna on 31st Decemeber 1980, Mrs. R.M.L Jayasekara from 01.01.1981 to 02.06.1982, Mr. G. Liyanage From 03.06.1982 to 30.04.1983 and Mrs R.S Gunarathne from 01.05.1983To 02.03.1986 served as principals.
