The batch 06 of the Master of Business Studies program commenced its lectures on the 25th of January.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗠𝗕𝗦) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 – 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟬𝟲 was successfully held on 17th January 2026, at the Cinnamon Lakeside hotel Colombo, marking an important academic milestone for the Department of Commerce and Financial Management (DCFM), University of Kelaniya.

The event was graced by Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS), University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further enriched by an insightful keynote address from Mr Damith Pallewatte, Chief Executive Officer of Hatton National Bank (HNB), who shared valuable insights on leadership and the contemporary business landscape.

The occasion was honoured by the presence of Professor H. A. K. N. S. Surangi, Head of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, along with members of the academic staff. Industry professionals and distinguished alumni also participated, adding practical insights and strengthening the connection between academia and industry. It was noted that 184 students have been enrolled in MBS Batch 06, reflecting the programme's continued demand and strong academic standing.

The Business Capstone Colloquium is a flagship academic event organised by the Master of Business Studies (MBS) Programme offered by the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. The colloquium serves as an important platform to bridge academic knowledge with practical business insights, bringing together postgraduate students, academics, and industry professionals to engage in critical discussions on contemporary business issues.
The event was held on 20th December at the iconic Lotus Tower, Colombo, providing a prestigious and inspiring setting that reflected the programme’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and industry relevance. The colloquium was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, whose leadership and guidance underscored the academic significance of the event. The programme was further enriched by a keynote address delivered by Mr. Talal Rafi, Economic Policy Consultant at the Asian Development Bank, who offered valuable insights linking global economic perspectives with local and regional business contexts.

The Master of Business Studies (MBS) students of the University of Kelaniya successfully completed the Technopreneurship course module, during which they developed innovative new product concepts aimed at addressing real-world market needs.

The session provided a dynamic platform for students to apply entrepreneurial thinking, problem-solving abilities, and business innovation frameworks acquired throughout the module.
