This paper won the ๐™ƒ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ง๐™–๐™—๐™ก๐™š ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐˜ผ๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ง๐™™ at the conference cementing its place as one of the three best papers at this prestigious IEEE conference.

The advances in Additive Manufacturing (AM) help the recycling, redesign, and reuse of waste plastics, enabling circular economy supply chains and business ecosystems. This study intended to investigate the barriers to implementing AM in plastic waste management in a developing economy. It shows the hierarchical relationship between those barriers. The findings from the case study reveal that the lack of flexibility to implement circular economy (CE) goals is one of the main barriers to implementing AM in plastic waste management.

Wildfires are a growing threat as they can lead to significant casualties and result in damage to the economy and environment. This study intended to determine the entry and exit points for firefighting Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) when approaching and leaving the wildfire zone. The problem is formulated as a regression model, which is tackled using machine learning algorithms, namely decision trees and random forest.

The crude oil supply chain (COSC) is one of the most complex and largest supply chains in the world. This study intended to explore the influential factors affecting the international COSC in terms of consumption, production and price. Furthermore, it develops a model to predict the international crude oil price during disease outbreaks using Random Forest Regression.

Delivery Time Prediction (DTP) is a crucial factor in last-mile logistics. This study proposes a novel method of DTP based on the origin, and destination geographical points (OD DTP) which is fitting for short distances. The findings of this study show that, the trip distance and the trip direction are the most important features when predicting short-distance delivery time.

This study aims to present the barriers that impede the application of circular economy concepts in the food supply chain. The findings of this study show that cost efficiency consideration is the most critical barrier that hinders the transition to a circular economy in the food supply chain. The findings of this study can be used to remove obstacles, create policies and strategies, and assist governments in implementing circular practices throughout food supply chain.

The key objectives of this study are integrating quayside operations and quay-to-yard interface, reducing emissions at quayside terminal truck operations, and promoting industry and academia collaborations through application-based research.

This study explored the effect of supplier switching costs on supply chain responsiveness in Sri Lankan Small and Medium-scale manufacturing firms (SMEs). It considered three types of switching costs: procedural switching costs, financial switching costs, and relational switching costs.

We are delighted to declare that the Department of Transport and Logistics Management (TLM) and MAC Holdings Private Limited entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 05th of October 2022 at the University of Moratuwa - Department of Transport & Logistics Management premises.

Professor Asoka Perera, Head of the Department of Transport and Logistics Management signed on behalf of the Department while Andre Fernando (Managing Director) signed on behalf of MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.

The MoU entails various mutual benefits to the Department of Transport and Logistics Management and MAC Holdings. Accordingly, MAC Holding provides access to student professional development and learning sources via internships opportunities, mentoring sessions and technical events that enhance the employability of undergraduates. Further, research collaborations with MAC holding would add an enormous value for the supply chain and logistics field.

This MoU was initiated by Mr. Harsha Chamara from the University of Moratuwa - Department of Transport & Logistics Management.
