ISS Visible Over Sri Lanka Tonight!

September 5, 2026 | Kandy, Sri Lanka

Skywatchers across Sri Lanka have an opportunity to observe the International Space Station (ISS) passing across the evening sky tonight.

The ISS will appear as a bright, steady point of light, moving smoothly across the sky without blinking. No telescope is required — it can be seen with the naked eye.

📍 From Kandy: Look toward the Southwest, then follow the ISS as it travels across the sky toward the Northeast.

🕖 Approx. viewing time: around 6:57 PM onwards
🧭 Direction: Southwest → Northeast
✨ Visibility: Very bright and easily visible under clear skies

The ISS is the largest human-made object in orbit and travels around Earth at roughly 28,000 km/h, completing an orbit approximately every 90 minutes.

Keep your eyes on the sky and enjoy the pass! 🌌🛰️

Early this morning at 5:37 AM (SLST), NASA's Artemis II mission successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean! 🚀✨
A massive congratulations to the brave crew—astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Hammock Koch, and Jeremy Hansen—on a highly successful mission! 👏
Their core mission was a crucial first step: a 10-day crewed flight test of the Orion spacecraft to prove humans can safely live and operate in deep space, paving the way for future lunar landings.
While they didn’t land on the surface this time, these four astronauts flew around the hidden, far side of the Moon—physically exploring the space we associate with our deepest subconscious. The Moon rules our inner world and our intuition, and this successful test mission acts as a massive energetic reset for the collective. It’s a powerful reminder that we must build strong foundations and bravely face the unknown before we can take our next big leap. 🌔

The International Space Station is a modular space station in low Earth orbit. It is a multinational collaborative project involving five participating space agencies: NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and CSA. The ownership and use of the space station is established by intergovernmental treaties and agreements 📡

Sri Lankans will be able to see this with our naked eyes between September 10 and 15
