Kingswood College, Kandy (formerly known as Kandy Boys' High School) was founded on the 4th of May, 1891, by the visionary Louis Edmund Blaze OBE, Kingswood College began with just 11 students at Pavilion Street, Kandy. Inspired by the public school traditions of England, Kingswood has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s leading educational institutions, now home to over 3,500 students, including both day scholars and boarders. Rich in tradition and innovation, Kingswood boasts many firsts, including introducing rugby-football to Sri Lanka and being the first boys-only school to employ a female teacher. Established initially as a private fee-levying school, it transitioned to Methodist Missionary management and later relocated to its iconic Mulgampola campus in 1925, thanks to the generosity of Sir John Randles.
