As part of our Avurudu celebrations, our Flyers were given a beautiful opportunity to observe and experience the making of traditional sweetmeats at school.

From konda kavum, mung kavum, athirasa, weli thalapa, kokis, mung guli, to murukku — the children watched with excitement as these delicious treats came to life, learning their names, ingredients, and the love that goes into making them.

With the guidance and warmth of our wonderful grandparents, this became more than just an activity… it was a heartfelt sharing of culture, tradition, and memories.

The joy on their faces as they tasted what was prepared was truly priceless! 😊❤️

Learning about Avurudu sweetmeats became a joyful moment for our little learners as they discovered the special treats made during the Sinhala & Tamil New Year.

While the meals were cooking, the children happily enjoyed traditional play — making Kompittu, playing with Polpiti Haraka and Kolapath. They imagined, created, explored, and learned together while keeping our lovely traditions alive. 🥰✨
