During the visit, students were given an in-depth overview of the PGRCโ€™s operations, including the collection, evaluation, documentation, and long-term conservation of plant genetic materials. The staff members shared their expert knowledge on seed storage techniques, germplasm management, and the importance of maintaining genetic diversity for sustainable crop improvement and food security.
This visit offered a valuable platform for students to connect theoretical knowledge from their coursework with real-world practices in genetic conservation and research. It also encouraged them to appreciate the importance of safeguarding plant resources for future generations.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff members of the Plant Genetic Resources Center, Gannoruwa, for their generosity, time, and willingness to share their expertise. A special acknowledgment goes to Prof. D. L. C. K. Workshop on Bonsai Artistry โ˜˜๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

An inspiring and hands-on Workshop on Bonsai was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. D.L.C.K. Fonseka, as part of the Floriculture and Landscaping course. This special event was organized exclusively for the 45th ARMT and ABM batches, offering them a rare opportunity to explore the delicate balance of art and horticulture through the ancient practice of bonsai. A heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ajantha Kumarasiri, our esteemed resource person, and his dedicated team for sharing their knowledge, passion, and artistic vision. From shaping tiny trees to cultivating patience and precision, students walked away not only with skills but with a deeper appreciation for nature in miniature.
