On the 1st of June 2026, the ICT Department of York International School, Kadawatha, transformed into a hub of brilliant minds, cutting-edge ideas, and inspiring confidence! π
Our talented students from Grade 6 all the way to Grade 11 stepped up to the plate for an intensive, high-level ICT Showcase. Diving deep into the driving forces of modern technology, students researched, compiled comprehensive booklets, and delivered brilliant presentations followed by rigorous Viva sessions on three monumental topics:
π **Cyber Security** β Understanding how to navigate and protect the digital world safely.
π§ **Artificial Intelligence (AI)** β Exploring the mechanics and ethics of the machines of tomorrow.
π **Emerging Trends in Technology** β Spotlighting the breakthrough innovations reshaping our lives.
This wasn't just an academic exercise; it was a powerful journey of growth! Through weeks of deep research, our young learners didn't just learn about technologyβthey mastered the art of public speaking, polished their presentation skills, and learned to tackle challenging questions with poise and critical thinking.
Watching our students stand tall, speak with authority, and face their Vivas with absolute confidence was a moment of immense pride for our teachers and the entire York community. The future of tech is bright, and it's being nurtured right here in our classrooms! π

Celebrating Peace, Light, and Creativity: Vesak 2026 at Our School York International School Kadawatha

Today, our school grounds were transformed into a serene haven of color and mindfulness as we celebrated the sacred festival of Vesak. It was a beautiful day filled with joy, creativity, and the spirit of togetherness.
Our littlest learners and younger students took center stage in bringing the spirit of Vesak to life through wonderful hands-on activities:
The Preschool Section: Our adorable preschoolers immersed themselves in crafting vibrant Vesak lanterns. With their tiny hands, lots of colorful paper, and immense enthusiasm, they built beautiful symbols of light that remind us of the ultimate truth and enlightenment.
Lower Primary Grades: The creative energy continued with our lower primary students, who poured their hearts into designing heartwarming Vesak greeting cards. Each card was a unique masterpiece, filled with colorful drawings and messages of peace, love, and compassion for their families and friends.
A True Reflection of Vesak: Beyond the beautiful crafts, today was a lesson in kindness and unity. Seeing the children work together, share materials, and appreciate each other's work truly embodied the core teachings of the Buddha.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers for guiding the students so beautifully, and to our wonderful parents for their continuous support.
May the blessings of Vesak bring peace, health, and happiness to you and your families! ππ»ππ»ππ»

Learning in Motion: UKG Explores the World of Transport!
ππππ²πβοΈππ€β΅οΈπ’π΅ποΈπππππππΊ
Our UKG classroom recently transformed into a bustling hub of roads, tracks, and skies as our little learners dove into their new unit on Transport.
To bring this lesson to life, the children didnβt just look at picturesβthey built their own world! Using colorful, hands-on models of various vehicles, the students introduced cars, trains, airplanes, and ships to one another through structured play.
* Active Engagement: Instead of passively listening, children actively steered their learning, driving cars through makeshift roads and soaring planes through the air.
* Language & Social Skills: As they played, students naturally practiced vocabulary like passenger, fuel, runway,* and *track, while learning to negotiate space and share the "roads" with their peers.
* Cognitive Connections: Linking a physical model to the real-world concept of transportation helps 5-year-olds retain information much more effectively.
Seeing the joy and curiosity on their faces proved once again that play is the highest form of research. It was a fantastic, high-energy week of learning that truly moved us forward!
