Gladys Gladys School of Speech and Drama was established by the late chairperson Dr. Mrs. Most of her qualifications she had gained from Trinity College of London.

Gladys Ponweera in the year 1964 February 12th with a number of ther few students at her residence. She was a professional in the field of Speech and Drama and for training English language skills for any age of student at any stage. She had the doctorate in Speech and Drama and also a government trained English language teacher. She had taught at Ananda College, Colombo Madampe Central St.Sebasti

an s Convent Kandana, Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo as a government school teacher for English language and at St Joseph s College, Colombo 10. Until her retirement. She was also an English Training Lecturer at Maharagama Teacher Training Institute. With her great experience in the field of English language skills training and during that time after the freedom in 1948 she had found the gap and importance of training students for speaking English language fluently with correct Pronunciation to cater according to the International Market and to communicate English language without any barriers. As a result of that concept she had introduced her own syllabus to cater our children and to perform more into Practical part to speak professional and British standard English was her only vision for incept GLADYS School of Speech and Drama.
