The Association of Translation Studies of the University of Jaffna formally organized a farewell ceremony in honour of Dr. S.K. Kannathas, in recognition of his distinguished service as the final Coordinator of the Unit of Translation Studies and the Inaugural Head of the Department of Translation Studies.🥳

Over a period exceeding nine years, Dr. Kannathas rendered exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment in transforming the Unit into a fully established academic Department. His efforts significantly contributed to the evolution of Translation Studies from a predominantly literature-based discipline into a recognized professional field of study.💫

Through his vision and dedication, the Department has attained a position of prominence among similar academic institutions in Sri Lanka and has garnered recognition at the international level.
His guidance has nurtured and produced numerous graduates who are now serving with distinction across the globe in both state and private sectors.⭐

Delighted to share highlights from the successful launch of Three Translations held on 7th April 2026 at the Arts Faculty Seminar Hall, University of Jaffna.

Organized by the Association of Translation Studies, University of Jaffna, the event marked the launch of Three Translations by Mani Veluppillai, Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Translation Studies and a stylist of language known for his effortless command of words. The volume features the original works of Selvam Arulanantham.

The occasion brought together literature, language, and the art of translation in a meaningful and inspiring atmosphere, reflecting the power of words to travel across cultures and experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made this literary gathering a memorable one.
