Complete the sentence:
A __________ is used to keep the teapot warm during afternoon tea.
How well do you know your afternoon tea vocabulary? From sponge cakes to sugar bowls, there's more to British afternoon tea than just sipping from a teacup! ☕ Have you ever had afternoon tea? Would you like to? 🙂

Here's a quick update: I've added the option of a board game, along with two 12×12 boards (download here https://eltcation.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/BigMaze.pdf), and instructions on how to play the Big Maze Board Game. There is no fixed path in the game. Students choose their own route.
Before the game:
Print one board per pair or small group. Provide one die and one game piece per student (counters, tokens, paper clips, etc.).
How to play:
Students play in pairs or small teams. Each team gets one die and their game pieces. Players take turns rolling the die and moving their piece. When a player lands on a square, they give the verb forms or make a true sentence using the verb.
If they cannot do this, they move back to the previous square, AND it becomes a learning opportunity: another student should give the correct answer, or the player checks the verb list (or Wordsplainer).
In this version, you can also set additional rules for Hint (pink) and Key (blue) squares. For example, in my game, I used blue for an extra move (the player may roll the die again) and pink for a swap (swapping positions with another player to introduce a bit of chaos and fun)). I’ve also added the Portal Square (purple): when students land on it, they can ‘teleport’ to the other Portal Square.
