The students of the **National Diploma in Aquaculture and Aquatic Resource Managemen(NVQ L- 05)t** **Aquaculture Technician (NVQ Level 04)** programmes at the **Ocean University of Sri Lanka, Regional Centre – Jaffna**, visited **Taprobane Seafood (Pvt) Ltd., Crab Processing Plant, Pesalai, and its Erukkalampiddy vannamei shrimp farm as part of their academic programme.

During the visit, the students observed crab processing operations, including grading, cleaning, cooking, meat extraction, packaging, and quality control procedures. They also gained practical knowledge of hygienic handling practices, seafood processing standards followed in the export industry, vannamei shrimp nursery and grow-out farming practices, and marine shellfish culture.

The field visit provided valuable industry exposure and enhanced the students' understanding of commercial seafood processing and aquaculture practices by connecting classroom learning with practical experience.

The students of the National Diploma in 'Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (NVQ Level 05) ' at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka, Regional Centre – Jaffna, undertook a field visit to 'North-Sea Ltd, Jaffna' , as part of the 'Harvesting Performance of Seafood Items' module.

The purpose of the visit was to gain practical knowledge of fishing net manufacturing and net mending practices used in the fisheries industry. The field visit provided students with valuable exposure to modern net fabrication techniques, repair methods, materials used, and their applications in commercial fishing operations.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Engineer and all the technical staff of 'North-Sea Ltd' for their valuable guidance, informative demonstrations, and for providing our students with this excellent opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

The journey continued with an insightful visit to the Unilever Distribution Centre, Sapugaskanda where students explored modern warehouse operations, inventory management systems, value-added processes, cargo loading and unloading activities, raw material handling, and supply chain management practices. The experience provided a clear picture of how world-class logistics and distribution systems operate in a highly competitive business environment.

The students of the NVQ Level 5 Maritime Logistics Management Programme of Ocean University of Sri Lanka, Regional Centre Jaffna recently embarked on an exciting educational field visit in Colombo, harbour, providing them with invaluable industry exposure and practical learning experiences.

Students had the unique opportunity to witness the dynamic operations of one of South Asia’s leading ports. From terminal operations and container handling to shipping line activities and vessel berthing and unberthing procedures, the visit offered a firsthand understanding of the complex processes that keep global trade moving efficiently.

The orientation programme of the Lifesaver training programme for the third batch was held at the Jaffna Regional Centre of the Ocean University of Sri Lanka. We warmly welcome all the students who have joined this training programme.
