NSBM Success Stories 💚
NSBM - Department of Management

“As a past President of the Association of Business Management which is the student body or the umbrella association of faculty of business and a proud NSBM alumnus, choosing the International Business Management (UGC) degree was honestly one of the best decisions I ever made.
Unlike most degrees that lock you into one path, IBM opens multiple doors in the corporate world no pressure, no limits, no hassle. One of the biggest strengths of NSBM is how it blends academics with real industry exposure.
That foundation helped me kick start my career early. In 2024, while still completing my degree, I stepped into the corporate world as an Associate - Business Development at Epic Lanka. From there, things moved fast, and today, I proudly serve as an Area Sales Manager at INSEE Cement.
Looking back, NSBM didn’t just give me knowledge it shaped my leadership, built my personality, and gave me the confidence to step into any business role with ease. Truly grateful for this journey and the doors it opened.“

Our Department of Management marked another milestone in undergraduate research excellence with its 3rd Student Research Symposium. The event was proudly organized under the timely and thought-provoking theme: “Human Resource Management at the Crossroads: Technology, Inclusion, and Sustainable World.”

Originally initiated in 2024, the symposium has grown into a prominent platform for fostering a vibrant research culture among undergraduates. The 2026 symposium was chaired by Dr. Tharindu Gunathilaka and coordinated by Ms. Prabha Silva, Symposium Secretary, whose dedication ensured the successful ex*****on of this prestigious event.

The Department also extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Thilini De Silva, Dean, Faculty of Business and Ms. Aushadharie Kaushalya, Head, Department of Management, for their leadership, advice, valuable support and contributions in organizing the symposium. Their commitment, along with the collective efforts of all Department of Management staff members, played a vital role in making this event a success.

The session was honored by the presence of the distinguished Keynote Speaker, Prof. Sashika Manoratne, Head of the Department of Management and Organizational Studies, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. As a highlight of the pre-conference, the Department of Management proudly introduced, for the first time, the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Research Idea Presentation Competition, showcasing the innovative thinking of final-year undergraduate students.

This competition provided a dynamic platform for students to present their research ideas within a strict three-minute timeframe, challenging them to communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner. The initiative aimed to enhance students’ ability to articulate research problems, justify their significance, and demonstrate the potential impact of their studies.

The 3MT competition emphasized the importance of effective research communication, a vital skill in both academic and professional contexts. Participants demonstrated creativity, confidence, and critical thinking, reflecting the growing research culture within the department.

The distinguished panel of judges consisted of Dr Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr Rashika Mudunkotuwa, Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Accounting and Finance and Dr Tharindu Gunathilaka, Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Management.

This inaugural 3MT competition marked a significant step forward in promoting innovative, accessible, and impactful research dissemination, inspiring students to engage more deeply with their research journeys.

The Department of Management at NSBM Green University successfully conducted its Pre-Conference Session as a prelude to the 3rd Student Research Symposium. The session was held at the Green Board Room (GBR) and brought together enthusiastic undergraduate researchers in an engaging academic setting.

The pre-conference was centered on the highly relevant theme, “Writing an Effective Systematic Literature Review Using AI Tools,” addressing one of the most critical stages of the research process. The session emphasized the importance of developing a strong theoretical foundation, identifying research gaps, and ensuring academic rigor, while also exploring how emerging AI tools can enhance efficiency, depth, and accuracy in literature review writing.

The session was graced by Dr. Michelle Silva, Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the University of Kelaniya, whose expertise and insights provided valuable guidance to students. Her session highlighted not only the practical application of AI tools in research but also the importance of maintaining ethical standards, critical thinking, and originality in academic work.

This pre-conference served as a valuable platform to equip students with essential research skills, setting the stage for more confident and impactful participation in the main symposium.
