On July 24, 2026, the Department of Social Statistics (DSS) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully hosted the poster presentations for the 4th-year Independent Research Studies at Sumanagala Mansion!

It was an inspiring, full-day event dedicated to highlighting the hard work, analytical rigor, and dedication of our final-year undergraduates. W. Lashan Mendis, a student of the Department of Social Statistics at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, achieved outstanding success at the 2026 National Championship for Hack Lifting and Two Hand Curl held on June 14 in Halawatha.

Competing in the 115kg category, he won Gold in Hack Lifting, Silver in Two Hand Curl, and was crowned the Overall Senior Open Champion of the tournament.

Congratulations to Lashan Mendis and his coaches for bringing pride to J'pura and the university community.
