Kelaniya Swimming and Life Saving Association, with 210 points edged out Gampaha District Swimming & Life Saving Association (201 Points), to emerge Overall champions at the Gampaha District Swimming Meet, 2006 held at the Regent International College, Miriswatta, Gampaha Swimming Pool.

Overall Champions (Girls): 1. Viharamaha Devi Balika, Kiribathgoda 196 points, 2. Holy Cross College, Gampaha 156 points, 3. Yasodara Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha 75 points, 4. Regent International College, Gampaha 63 points, 5. Newstead Girls College, Negombo 36 points.

History of School
On 01.01.1963, under The 1962 School Re-Organizing Scheme of the Government of the time , the Senior Secondary English School, situated in the Centre of the city hailing since 1923 found its new destination as Bandaranayaka Maha Vidyalaya.Old premises evolved as Gampaha Yasodara Devi Balika Vidyalaya.

Although most of the students of the Senior Secondary English School had been admitted to Gampaha Bandaranayaka Maha Vidyalaya , which was a newly established school in 1958, Yasodara became a girls’ school with a nominal population of male students. Within significantly a short time, in 1968, Yasodara became a fully fledged girls’ school with students sitting for G.C.E.(O/L) examination

1. Yasodara Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya brings pride to Gampaha town as it is the only 1 AB Government girls’ school with classes from 1 -13 in the Gampaha district .
2. It is situated within the Gamapaha Municipal Council limits.
