19th Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students (Sri Lanka Region) & The Second Port City Colombo Cup – Chinese Bridge

Devni Ruwanya Kalansuriya emerged as the Champion and has earned the distinguished honor of representing Sri Lanka at the Chinese Bridge Global Finals to be held in China.

This outstanding accomplishment reflects her strong commitment, consistent effort, and the valuable guidance and encouragement she received from many supportive individuals throughout her journey.

Special thanks are extended to the Chinese language teacher, Ms. Erangi Jayawardana, for her unwavering guidance and support.

We are proud to announce that the Southlands College Defence Cadet Platoon emerged as the Overall Champions, securing 1st Place in the 1st Battalion at the Battalion Assessment Camp (III Detail) 2026, held at National Cadet Corps Training Centre, Rantambe.

With this outstanding achievement, the platoon has qualified for the prestigious DE SOYSA CHALLENGE TROPHIES National Camp (after 22 years).It is with immense pride and a deep sense of achievement that we, the Defense Cadet Platoon, formally announce our historic victory, ending a 22-year drought. This remarkable milestone underscores dedication, discipline, and relentless commitment to excellence.

Congratulations to our Defence Cadet Platoon on this remarkable achievement. We are immensely proud of your dedication, discipline, and hard work, and wish you every success in your future endeavours.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the 1st Battalion officers specially Commanding Officer Lt Col IKMR Inimankada for their unwavering guidance and support. The prefect investiture ceremony of Southlands College was held on June 23rd, 2026, at the college auditorium, marking a significant milestone in the institution's academic calendar. The ceremony commenced with the formal induction of the newly appointed Head Prefect, Deputy Head Prefects, Games Captains, and the Board of Prefects, who took solemn oaths to serve their college with dedication and integrity.
The chief guest for this auspicious occasion was Mrs. Ramani Nalika Dodampegamage, a renowned past pupil and the Director General (Planning) at the Ministry of Education. Her presence added prestige to the event and served as an inspiring reminder of the potential that dedicated leadership can achieve.
This investiture ceremony provided a powerful beginning to the leaders' journey, emphasizing essential leadership qualities such as teamwork, discipline, resilience in facing challenges, endurance, commitment, creativity, and sound decision-making skills.
