Beach Cleanup @ Rillamba, Boossa, Sri Lanka with Travelteer - Marine & Wildlife Conservation Volunteers this afternoon.

Coral restoration near Jungle Beach, Sri Lanka! Coral reefs are incredibly vulnerable to human activity and climate change, with coral bleaching (shown on slides 6 and 9) being one of the most devastating catastrophies to our biosphere. According to the UN, although "they cover only 0.2% of the seafloor, they support at least 25% of marine species and underpin the safety, coastal protection, well being, food and economic security of hundreds of millions of people."

Volunteers got to work and play with preschool & kindergarten students today! Teaching is such a difficult job, so we are so happy to provide any kind of aid to Sri Lanka's dedicated teachers.
