We are delighted to share the successful completion of the Corporate Etiquette Excellence Training Programme conducted by SHMA for 29 Baur’s field staff members.
For many participants, this was their first formal exposure to corporate etiquette training, providing valuable insights into professional conduct, workplace behaviour, communication standards, and dining etiquette. Teamwork, Energy, & Friendly Competition!

Our Hotel Advanced students of the VET by EHL Professional programme recently organised an exciting Pickleball Tournament where students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship, and team spirit.

For many students, this was their first experience playing pickleball, making the event both a fun learning opportunity and a memorable experience. The tournament brought everyone together, encouraging collaboration, healthy competition, and plenty of laughter along the way.

Our culinary students are demonstrating their innovative skills by presenting dishes with enhanced colour, creativity, and visual appeal. Intermediate-level students have gained valuable experience in preparing their own dishes while adding a distinctive and refined presentation to each plate. Some of the dishes prepared by our culinary intermediate students include Spinach Timbale, Crab Cake with Mashed Potato, Pittu with Brinjal Mojo, Lamb Cutlet, Jaffna Chilli Paste with Spiced Coconut Milk, and a Beef Steak served with Potatoes and Buttered Vegetables.

PROFESSIONAL GROOMING FOR FUTURE LEADERS

Front Office staff play a vital role in representing a hotel’s brand image, as they are often the first point of contact for guests Student grooming is given the highest priority, as it serves as a passport to entering and excelling in the hotel industry.

To support this, SHMA regularly organises professional grooming sessions for each batch, equipping students with the confidence and etiquette required in a professional environment. These sessions are conducted with the support of Ms Shyamini Ariyawardena, a specialised trainer from the Sri Lankan Aviation College, renowned for expertise in grooming and etiquette training.
