Iman Academy (formally known as Al Iman Schools) is a full-time private day school for children from preschool to advanced level serving families in Colombo and suburbs. The curriculum, system of discipline, and leisure activities at Iman Academy combine knowledge and practice of value-based education with the best training in the sciences and humanities, including the Arabic Language, so that our

students can grow up to be practicing, conscientious Muslims following the straight path, who are proud of their Islamic heritage. Iman Academy uses Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) guidelines incorporating Evidence Based Teaching (EBT) strategies while being advocates of Self-Directed Education (SDE) to ensure that the children are learning in a loving and nurturing environment, with lots of opportunities to question and explore.

Amna Shahmy has been a shining example of leadership, creativity, and dedication throughout her years at Iman Academy. Serving as both Deputy Head Girl and Head Girl, she has led with confidence, integrity and compassion. Whether on stage as a talented actress, behind the scenes as a scriptwriter, on the sports field, or leading humanitarian initiatives, Amna has embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and purpose. Her determination to strive for excellence and her commitment to serving others have made her a role model within the school community. We are immensely proud of all that she has achieved!

How can we turn our understanding of energy into something we can see, build and explain?

As part of their learning on energy, Year 7 students were challenged to design and construct models that demonstrated different forms and transfers of energy. Through creativity, problem-solving and scientific thinking, they brought their ideas to life and confidently presented their models to their peers.

The highlight was combining their individual creations into one collaborative “Energy City” - a powerful showcase of teamwork, innovation and learning in action!
