◾Approximately 45-65 million light-years away, with 45 million light-years being a common estimate.

◾Caldwell 60 (NGC 4038) and Caldwell 61 (NGC 4039) are known as the Ringtail or Antennae galaxies. At one time they were normal, sedate spiral galaxies similar to the Milky Way, but this galactic pair has spent the past few hundred million years sparring. This violent clash has ripped stars from their host galaxies to form a streaming arc between the two combatants. Wide-field views of the duo reveal long streamers of stars extending outward into space like a set of antennae, giving the duo their common nickname.

◾කැල්ඩ්වෙල් 60 (NGC 4038) සහ කැල්ඩ්වෙල් 61 (NGC 4039) රින්ග්ටේල් මන්දාකිණි ලෙස හැඳින්වේ. එක් කාලයකදී ඒවා ක්ෂීරපථයට සමාන සාමාන්‍ය, සන්සුන් සර්පිලාකාර මන්දාකිණි වූ නමුත් මෙම මන්දාකිණි යුගලය පසුගිය වසර මිලියන සිය ගණනක් තිස්සේ ගැටෙමින් සිටියේය. මෙම ප්‍රචණ්ඩ ගැටුම දෙදෙනා අතර ප්‍රවාහ චාපයක් සෑදීමට ඔවුන්ගේ ධාරක මන්දාකිණිවලින් තරු විසුරැවා දමා ඇත. මෙම යුගලයේ පුළුල් ක්ෂේත්‍ර දර්ශන මගින් අභ්‍යවකාශයට පිටතට විහිදෙන දිගු තරු ප්‍රවාහයන් හෙළි කරයි.
