CWIT, a joint venture between ๐€๐๐š๐ง๐ข ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ, ๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐‡๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐’๐ซ๐ข ๐‹๐š๐ง๐ค๐š ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐€๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, represents a ๐”๐’๐ƒ ๐Ÿ–๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ in Sri Lankaโ€™s port infrastructure. Since beginning commercial operations in April 2025, the terminal has already handled ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐“๐„๐”๐ฌ during its first year.

With a ๐Ÿ,๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ-๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐ž ๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ฒ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ-๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐š๐Ÿ๐ญ, the Phase 2 expansion will significantly increase Colomboโ€™s ability to handle some of the worldโ€™s largest container vessels. Once completed, CWIT will be capable of handling ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐ž ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ซ๐š-๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ซ ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ž๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ฒ and is expected to add approximately ๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐“๐„๐”๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐œ๐š๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

This development will not only strengthen the operational capacity of Colombo Port but also enhance Sri Lankaโ€™s position as a key maritime and transshipment hub in South Asia.
