Headline: 🎲 New Year, New Taxes: Casino Levies Doubled in Sri Lanka

The Inland Revenue Department has issued immediate changes to the Betting and Gaming sector effective January 01, 2026.

According to Notice PN/CEL/2025-01, significant hikes are now in place:

πŸ”Ή Casino Entrance Levy (CEL): Increased by 100% to USD 100 per entrant.

πŸ”Ή Gross Collection Levy: Raised from 15% to 18% on betting and gaming businesses with monthly collections over Rs. 1 Mn.

Operators must update their collection systems immediately to comply with the Betting and Gaming Levy (Amendment) Act No. 25 of 2025.
