We are thrilled to announce that Team Sri Lanka has made the nation proud at the **37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026)**, competing against the brightest young scientists from over 90 countries! 🌍
🥉 **Bronze Medal** — Ragunathan Sheron Sahithyan *(St. Peter's College, Colombo)*
🥉 **Bronze Medal** — Sandanima Dulavindi *(Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo)*
🏆 **Merit Award** — Upani Sithumdi Wickramarathna *(Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo)*
A huge round of applause also for **Charles Prathishan** *(St. Peter's College, Colombo)* who represented Sri Lanka with tremendous pride and distinction! 👏
These incredible young minds were trained to **university level** at the **Institute of Allergology & Immunology (IAI)** and the **Departments of Botany and Zoology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura** — covering molecular biology, biochemistry, plant & computational biology, animal morphology and physiology — using world-class facilities. 🔬🧬🌱
Our delegation was led by **Prof. Hiran Amarasekera** and **Dr. Heshan Kuruppu** of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. 👨🔬
This achievement is the result of years of dedication — by our students, their families, their teachers, and the unwavering support of the **Institute of Biology, Sri Lanka** and the **Institute of Allergology & Immunology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura**, who fund and make this programme possible year after year since 2008. 💚
