Ladies' College Sri Lanka

We recently concluded yet another successful student exchange programme held from 1st to 20th February in partnership with Gymnasium Isernhagen, Hannover.

The five German students spent their time fully immersed in school life—attending lessons, exploring the campus, and cheering at our annual sports meet. Beyond the classroom, they experienced Sri Lankan culture firsthand by learning local cookery and visiting the historic city of Kandy as well as the renowned Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

This year, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Mr. Stefan Wocken, who retires after many years of dedicated involvement with the programme. We also warmly welcomed Ms. Veronique, who spent a week with us gaining insight into the exchange initiative.

We sincerely hope our guests had a meaningful and memorable stay with their host families. Our deepest thanks go to the host families for their warmth, generosity, and the thoughtful effort taken to make our German visitors feel truly at home.

Through our Corridors a curated walk that helped us appreciate our founders and their visionary leadership in building our school.

We are deeply grateful to Sulakshana de Mel an old girl (author of Through the Red Gates, the 125 Coffee Table book) who spent the day imparting snippets of her knowledge to our teachers and students.

Ladies’ College, marked Founders’ Day with gratitude and joy, honouring the vision and courage of our Founders and the generations of Principals who faithfully upheld the ethos and values of our school.

For 126 years, their leadership, dedication and unwavering faith have shaped the spirit of Ladies’ College, guiding us to grow in excellence, integrity and service. As a school community, we came together in thanksgiving, celebration and fellowship, remembering the strong foundation laid before us and reaffirming our commitment to carry it forward.

Our swimmers embraced the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie at the National Age Group Relay Championship, proudly emerging First Runners-Up in the Girls’ Category.
Well done, girls! Keep it up!

We congratulate Kithnuli Amarasinghe, the only female student Scrabble player to emerge in the top 3 at the first Sri Lanka Women’s National Scrabble Championship, organized by the Scrabble Federation of Sri Lanka. Kithnuli recorded 7 wins out of 9 games to finish the tournament on a high note in a dominant field of nationally rated players!

The Inaugural Service for our Grade 1 students of 2026 was held on 27th January at the Chapel of the Hope of the World. We were blessed to have the service conducted by the Rt Rev Dushantha Rodrigo, Bishop of Colombo, as we warmly welcomed our youngest students into the Ladies’ College family.

With a better understanding of children's behavior, improved communication, emotional and social development support, and the ability to address learning challenges, educators and parents can create nurturing environments that promote healthy growth.
