ADIC, in collaboration with the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, conducted an engaging workshop today on alcohol, to***co and other drug prevention.

The session went beyond understanding the harms of substance use. Students explored how industry interference and social norms can influence substance use, and more importantly, what can be done to challenge them.

💡 From identifying ways to counter misleading social norms to thinking about how they can contribute to drug prevention in their own contexts, students shared ideas, perspectives and practical solutions throughout the session.

Thank you to Senior Lecturer Sudheera Jayaweera, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, for the collaboration and support, and to all the students who engaged so thoughtfully today!

A training programme was conducted for estate health staff in the Kegalle Region to strengthen their knowledge and skills to address alcohol-related issues in their estates.

The training focused on practical ways for health staff to work with their own communities and support positive changes in the coming months. They were equipped with simple approaches to reduce the negative impacts of alcohol, to***co and other drug use, while promoting healthier and happier lifestyles across estate communities ✨

An exhibition focusing on the harms of alcohol, to***co and other drug use, Sri Lanka’s proposed Tobacco-Free Generation policy, and alcohol and to***co industry interference was held from July 29 to August 2, 2026, in Galle, under the leadership of the API Organization, Baddegama, alongside the Esala Perahera to educate the public.

ADIC appreciates this community-led effort to create awareness and promote alcohol, to***co and other drug prevention at the community level 👏
