❗ Using the correct academic title matters
Calling a woman with a PhD “Miss/Mrs” while addressing male PhD holders as “Dr” is not just inaccurate - it is a form of untitling that overlooks her professional achievement.

👉 “Dr” is the correct title for anyone who has earned a doctorate, regardless of gender.
👉 Using Miss/Ms/Mrs instead reinforces bias and diminishes the qualification.

⁉️ Would you call a male PhD holder “Mr” once you know he is a doctor?

✅ If she earned the title Dr, use it. Anything else signals a lack of recognition and respect.

❓Why Female Humans Are Often Viewed as More Beautiful?

Human beauty perception is shaped by a combination of biology, psychology, and strong cultural influence.

🌿 Evolutionary perspective (fertility cues): Throughout human evolution, certain physical traits in women such as an optimal waist‑to‑hip ratio, clear skin, and youthfulness have been subconsciously linked to fertility and overall health.

🎭 Social and cultural construction: Beauty standards in humans are heavily influenced by culture, media, and societal expectations. These forces often place greater emphasis on female appearance, grooming, and aesthetics.

❤️ Pair bonding: Humans tend to form long‑term pair bonds, and both males and females have evolved mechanisms to attract partners. However, cultural conditioning frequently pushes more aesthetic expectations onto women.

💪 Subtle male beauty: Male attractiveness is often perceived through different cues such as strength, height, or facial bone structure, e.g., jawlines, rather than bright, ornate traits seen in many animal species.

22/03/2026

❓Why Male Animals Are More Ornate?

In the animal kingdom, male beauty is largely shaped by sexual selection, particularly female choice.

🦅 Female choosiness: Females typically invest more energy in reproduction, e.g., producing large eggs or carrying offspring. As a result, they are selective and prefer males who display traits indicating strong genetics and overall fitness.

🦚 The handicap principle: Many ornate male traits, i.e., bright colours, long tails, large antlers, etc., can actually make survival harder by attracting predators. A male that thrives despite these disadvantages demonstrates superior strength, health, and genetic quality.

⚠️ Male competition: Males frequently compete for attention using displays, dance, or elaborate plumage. This drives the development of more exaggerated physical traits, a phenomenon known as sexual dimorphism.

🐳 The Sexy Sons hypothesis: Females choosing attractive males are likely to produce sons who are also attractive, increasing the likelihood that their genes will be passed on to future generations.

💛 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood and invisible chronic conditions. For many, the symptoms can be debilitating: severe pelvic pain, anemia, fatigue, nausea, and challenges that impact daily life, including work.
What makes it even harder?
👉 You often cannot see the pain.
👉 Many feel uncomfortable discussing it.
👉 Too many experience stigma or doubt instead of support.

As we mark Endometriosis Awareness Month, it is important for organisations to recognise that supporting employees with endometriosis is not only compassionate - it is essential for creating an equitable workplace.

🌼 Why this matters at work
Endometriosis can affect:
👉 Concentration and productivity
👉 Physical comfort throughout the day
👉 The ability to attend office‑based commitments
👉 Overall mental wellbeing

With the right support, employees can continue to thrive.
🌼 How employers can make a meaningful difference
✔️ Flexible working options: Remote working, flexible hours, or adjustments during flare‑ups.
✔️ Understanding and empathy: A culture where people feel safe to disclose health challenges without judgement.
✔️ Reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010 (UK): Endometriosis can be considered a disability if it has a substantial, long‑term impact on daily activities. Employers may therefore have a legal duty to provide appropriate adjustments.
✔️ Awareness training for managers: Helping them understand the condition and respond supportively.
✔️ Access to occupational health and wellbeing resources.

🌼 Let us normalise the conversation
Endometriosis is often called an invisible illness , but the pain is far from invisible to those living with it. By fostering understanding, empathy, and open dialogue, we can challenge stigma and ensure people are never made to feel weak or guilty for managing a chronic condition.

This March, let us raise awareness and champion workplaces where everyone - including those living with endometriosis - can succeed without having to hide their pain.

💛 Awareness - Empathy - Equity. That is how we make a difference!
