Valentine's Day for children is often referred to as a celebration of friendship, kindness, or affection, rather than romance. In schools, it is commonly called a "Friendship Exchange" or "Kindness Day," where children share cards, treats, and, for example, heart-shaped items to foster community and inclusive social bonding.

Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) gained independence from British rule on February 4, 1948, ending nearly 450 years of colonial subjugation. The island became a dominion within the British Commonwealth, with D.S. Senanayake serving as the first Prime Minister and the Lion Flag raised for the first time.

Practical life activities ❤️

A Montessori sweeping activity teaches independence, coordination, and responsibility through cleaning. Children aged 2½–4 learn to use child-sized tools to sweep debris into a pile and then into a dustpan. This activity strengthens gross motor skills, improves balance, and fosters a sense of order.

In Tamil culture, Pongal is a deeply joyful occasion. It celebrates the hard work of our farmers and expresses our gratitude to the land and the sun. Moreover, this festival teaches us the importance of maintaining a harmonious balance between nature, family, and society. #

Pongal 2026, celebrated from January 14 to 17, is the Tamil harvest festival marking the beginning of the month of Thai. The festival honours Surya, the Sun God, and expresses gratitude for a prosperous harvest. Traditionally, rice and jaggery are boiled in an earthen pot until it overflows, symbolizing abundance and prosperity.
