K-Culture Comes Alive in Colombo as EOULLIM 2026 Strengthens Sri Lanka–Korea Ties
Colombo came alive with the colour, energy and traditions of Korea as EOULLIM 2026 – Korean Culture Festival was held on 29 August 2026 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium, Colombo.
The event was jointly presented by Far East University (FEU), Republic of Korea, and IDM Nations Campus International (IDMNC), Sri Lanka, creating a vibrant platform for cultural exchange while strengthening the growing educational relationship between Sri Lanka and South Korea.
The programme was graced by the Governor of the Western Province, together with Dr. Lyu Keeil, President of Far East University, Professor Dr. An Kyounghee, professors and representatives of the university, senior officials, invited guests and students.
Professor Dr. An Kyounghee played a significant role in the event and contributed actively to the cultural performances and the overall coordination of the programme. Her involvement reflected the strong commitment of Far East University to meaningful cultural and academic engagement with Sri Lanka.
One of the major highlights of EOULLIM 2026 was the participation of professors and students from Far East University who travelled from Korea to Sri Lanka to perform and present different aspects of Korean culture.
The festival featured K-Pop, K-Beauty, Korean food, Taekwondo, cultural performances, fashion, lifestyle activities and interactive experiences. The performances by Korean university students were a particular attraction, giving the Sri Lankan audience an opportunity to experience Korean music, dance and youth culture in an authentic setting. The programme also created space for Sri Lankan cultural performances, allowing both countries to share their traditions on the same stage.
A major part of the success of EOULLIM 2026 was the work carried out behind the scenes by Gajanan Veluppilai and his team, who coordinated the entire programme from planning through to ex*****on. Their handling of event management, stage operations, technical coordination and overall programme delivery demonstrated a high level of professionalism, discipline and organisational strength. The smooth flow of the event and the effective coordination between performers, academics, guests and technical teams reflected the capability and commitment of the organising team.
EOULLIM 2026 went beyond entertainment. It reflected the growing academic partnership between Far East University and IDM Nations Campus International and their shared interest in creating international education opportunities for Sri Lankan students.
The collaboration between the two institutions is designed to provide pathways for Sri Lankan students to begin their higher education locally and continue their studies in South Korea, while gaining exposure to Korean language, culture, education and professional opportunities.
The presence of the Western Province Governor, the President and senior professors of Far East University, together with Korean and Sri Lankan students, gave the event added significance. It demonstrated how education and culture can work together to build stronger links between countries and create direct international exposure for young people.
EOULLIM 2026 became a celebration of friendship between Sri Lanka and South Korea, bringing together education, youth and culture while opening further possibilities for academic cooperation and student exchange between the two countries.
