ECONOMAX '17 anual Commerce Day of Carey College was organized by the Commerce Society for the 29th Consecutive Time which was held at the College Main Auditorium on the 12th of October. St.Benedicts College took part in the event and won 2nd place in puzzle solving, 2nd place in oratory and 3rd place in the quiz competition which was among the invited schools.

The Inauguration of The Office Bearers of the Commerce Union of St. Benedict’s College for the year 2017/2018 was held on the 6th of October 2017 at The Rev.BR.James Memorial Building. The Commerce Union is one of the largest established unions within the school with membership of vast numbers. With the Consent of the Teachers in Charge Of the Commerce Stream the New board was elected to conduct Preparations for the annually organized Commerce Day.With assistance of the teachers and Students of the Commerce stream the Newly elected board wishes to add more colour and vigor to the Commerce Day on a scale that has never been witnessed before. The Office Bearers of the Commerce union for the year 2017/2018 is as follows,

RATIO IPSM'18
Commerce Day of St. Lawrence Convent was held on 29th October 2017. St. Benedict's College took part as an invited school and won first place in the drama competition which was held among the invited schools.

Old Ben Zulfick Farzan wins an UN award

Old Benedictine Zulfick Farzan, from the 2008 A/L Batch of St. Benedict’s College won the Silver Medal from the United Nations Correspondents Association for the year 2013 for his News Documentary on World Water Day for the UN’s International Year on Water Co-Operation.

At the age of 23, Zulfick is the youngest ever to achieve such a prestigious award for journalists presented by the United Nations. The awards ceremony will be held in New York on December 18.

Zulfick Farzan is a highly successful and respected news producer at Sirasa News 1st – English.
