Ola Leaf books mark a pivotal milestone in the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan literary tradition. While historical evidence points to Sinhalese characters being inscribed on various plant leaves like ‘Watake’ leaves (Screw-pine) in antiquity, the oldest surviving documents are encapsulated in Ola Leaf Books, predominantly from the Kandy era onwards.

ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය ලේඛන සම්ප්‍රදායේ තීරණාත්මක සන්ධිස්ථානයක් ලෙස පුස්කොළ පොත් භාවිතය හඳුන්වා දීමට පුළුවන. අතීතයේ සිට ම වැටකේ පත්‍ර ආදී විවිධ ශාක පත්‍රවල සිංහල අක්ෂර ලියා තැබූ බවට සාක්ෂ්‍ය ඉතිහාසයේ බොහෝ හමුවෙතත්, දැනට ඉතුරු ව ඇති පැරණිම ලේඛන ලෙස අපට හමුවන්නේ පුස්කොළ පොත්වල ලියු ඒවා වන අතර, ඉන් බහුතරය නුවර යුගයට හෝ ඉන් පසු කාලයට අයත් ඒවා වේ.

This short course is meticulously designed to facilitate a profound understanding of Ola Leaf Books within the Sinhala writing tradition. Participants will delve into the content of these books, exploring the subject matter intricately, learning the methods of locating them, and comprehending the compilation process.

මෙම කෙටි පාඨමාලාවේ අරමුණ සිංහල ලේඛන සම්ප්‍රදායේ එන පුස්කොළ පොත් කියවීම සහ ඒවායේ ඇති කරුණු පිළිබඳ මුලික අදහසක් ලබා දීමයි. විශේෂයෙන් ම මෙම පුස්කොල පොත්වල අන්තර්ගත වන විෂය කරුණු සහ ඒවා සොයා ගන්නා ආකාරය මෙන් ම ඒවා සම්පාදනය කිරීමේ ක්‍රමය පිළිබඳ ව ද සවිස්තරාත්මක කරුණු මෙහි දී සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

The course spans a duration of two weeks, featuring lectures thrice a week. A culminating highlight is the special three-hour seminar held at the conclusion, complemented by the issuance of a certificate to participants.
