Montessori environment is so designed that all activities feed towards the development of the skills required for reading and writing. The child is exposed to so much information on many different subjects such as Mathematics, Geometry, Geography, Languages (English, Tamil and Sinhala) and Environmental studies. For a total development of their personality extracurricular activities such as singing dancing and physical exercises are introduced. Activities introduced in the Montessori is divided into 4 main categories

1. Exercises of Practical life - A series of activities through which the child develops control of movement and eye hand coordination which will aid him in writing skills. Pouring water and rice, polishing, washing and dressing frames are some of these activities.

2. Sensorial Materials – This further expands the child’s preparation by building on the order established in the child through the daily living exercise. The pink tower, Geometrical cabinet, cylinder blocks, Colour tablets etc help to develop perceptual activities.

3. Language development such as reading and writing are achieved spontaneously by our children with a series of exercises such as tracing on sand paper letters, picture-card matching games and word building letter box.

4. Mathematical concepts are imparted by the various number activities done in our Montessori such as Number rods, Decimal beads, addition snake game and other advanced activities.
