Awarelogue Initiative and Servants of the Buddha organisation jointly presented a webinar on 'Visit of the Venerable Upali Maha Thero: Research and Reflection' on 20 April 2024 to further understand the significance of this historic visit and the impact it had on Buddhism and bilateral relations. The panel comprised Ven. Siri Vajiraramaye Nanasiha Thero, Patron, Servants of the Buddha Organisation, Dr Paitoon Songkaeo, Consul General (former Monk for 16 years and retired Diplomat), Dr George I. H. Cooke, Initiator, Awarelogue Initiative, and was moderated by Ven. Dr Pannaloka Wadinagala Thero of the Institute of Buddhist and Pali Studies at the University of Kelaniya.
2023 marked the 270th anniversary of the founding of the Siam sect and the granting of higher ordination by Ven. Upali Maha Thero, while 2025 will mark the 70th year of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The webinar was intended to highlight the historic connectivity between the two countries, and the special role played by senior members of the clergy, such as Ven. Upali Maha Thero.

- The 'Arches of Awe' exhibition opened in Colombo in January 2024 with HRH The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence, and many more friends, family and well wishers taking time to come over to the British Council and view the photographic exhibition that highlighted the amazing arches that were installed 70 years ago when HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited Ceylon. The exhibition also looked at cultural connectivity through 'thoranas' which are found in other parts of Asia.
