The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Colombo, in collaboration with Sampath Bank PLC successfully conducted the “Effective Career Guidance 5.0” on 08th October 2025 at 3.2 Conference Hall, Faculty of Management and Finance.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by the Director of the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Colombo. Mr. Bhathiya Hettiarachchi, Manager – Platinum Plus Branch, Sampath Bank PLC, Ms. Mihiri Ranaweera, Manager – Organizational Transformation, and Mr. Nuwan Pathirana, Head of Sustainability, Sampath PLC. served as the resource person for the workshop and shared valuable insights.

With the enthusiastic rich participation of undergraduates from various faculties, the workshop covered key areas including “Personal Branding, Career Guidance on Banking Profession, and Understanding the Principles of ESG”. Students were guided on how to present themselves confidently and professionally in world of work.

Participants gained a better understanding of how personal branding, and Career Guidance in the Banking profession contribute to building a strong professional image and enhancing interpersonal interactions.

The workshop exemplifies the University’s commitment to preparing students for successful transitions from academic life to the professional world. Through the development of essential soft skills, the CGU seeks to empower undergraduates to pursue their careers with confidence, professionalism, and a clear understanding of workplace expectations.

The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Colombo, in collaboration with SriLankan Aviation College, SriLankan Airlines Ltd., successfully conducted the Corporate Grooming and Business Etiquette Workshop on 21st August 2025 at Prof. Jayarathne Hall, Faculty of Management and Finance.

The program commenced with a warm welcome by the Director of the Career Guidance Unit. Ms. Sachini Mathotaarachchi, Training and Business Development Executive, served as the resource person for the workshop and shared valuable insights on professional grooming and etiquette.

With the enthusiastic rich participation of undergraduates from various faculties, the workshop covered key areas including professional grooming, dress style, personal hygiene, and social and business etiquette. Students were guided on how to present themselves confidently and professionally in academic, social, and workplace settings. The interactive session provided students with practical knowledge on adhering to professional dress codes, maintaining personal hygiene, and developing essential etiquette skills. Participants gained a better understanding of how grooming and etiquette contribute to building a strong professional image and enhancing interpersonal interactions.
