Devi Balika Triumph at the All-Island Handball Tournament!

The under-17 handball team of Devi Balika Vidyalaya has brought pride and glory to the school by securing the championship title at the prestigious All-Island Handball Tournament, held at the Public Grounds, Galewela, from 29th to 31st August. Facing Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, in a nail-biting final, the team displayed exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork to claim a well-deserved victory.
Warm congratulations go to the spirited team, ably led by captain Midini Rasanjana. Recognition is also due to the tireless guidance of the Sports Unit teachers-in- charge, Ms. Upeksha Dulanjalee and Ms. Amanda Thathsarani; the dedicated handball coordinators, Ms. Kanchana Devi and Mr. Nalaka Dassanayake; and the inspiring coach, Mr. Umesh Kavinda.
The school community extends heartfelt gratitude to our principal, Madam Nilakshika Hapugoda, and the management board, whose steadfast encouragement and support have been instrumental in nurturing the talents of our young athletes and propelling them to this remarkable achievement.

On the 11th of June, A Chinese Cultural Orchestra show was held at Devi Balika Vidyalaya, highlighting the richness of traditional Chinese music. As part of the experience, students were given the unique opportunity to try traditional instruments, making the event both interactive and educational. This cultural exchange not only showcased artistic excellence but also strengthened the bonds of friendship between China and our school.

පොසොන් පොහොය නිමිති කොටගෙන දේවි බාලිකා විද්‍යාලයීය බෞද්ධ සංගමය සහ පෙරදිග සංගීත සංසදය එක්ව සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ පොසොන් බැති ගී සරණිය බුද්ධ වර්ෂ 2569 වූ පොසොන් මස 09 වන දින සාර්ථකව පැවැත්විණි. මෙය අපගේ ගුරු මෑණිවරුන් සහ ගුරුපියවරුන්, ශිෂ්‍ය නායක සංසදය, 6 සිට 11 වසර සිසුන් සහ සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගය අවසන් කළ සිසුන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් ආලෝකමත් විය.

We proudly recognize the outstanding achievements of young Devians in the GCE A/L Examination of 2024. With exceptional results across all streams, our students have once again upheld the school's tradition of academic excellence. Congratulations to all achievers and their dedicated teachers!

On 8th April 2025, we warmly welcomed our Grade 6 students who passed the scholarship examination in 2024 with flying colours, marking the commencement of an exciting chapter for them. As they join the Devi community, they are set to engage in a dynamic and enriching academic experience.

The Annual Inter-House Sportsmeet of Devi Balika Vidyalaya held on 4th April 2025, concluded with Upeksha House emerging as overall champions, followed by Shanthi, Sathya, and Maithree houses. The sportsmeet showcased exceptional athleticism and teamwork of our students, reinforcing the values of healthy competition and unity. Beyond competition, the event underscored the values of discipline that define the school community.

The Prefects' Guild 2024/25 extends a warm welcome to Madam Nilakshika Dilhani Hapugoda, the newly appointed principal of Devi Balika Vidyalaya. With your exceptional leadership and vision we are excited for the new chapter you will help us young devians, write together.
