Our bodies naturally have enzymes and proteins that prevent blood from clotting, allowing it to stay in liquid form. However, as soon as we are wounded, healthy adult bodies start the process of blood clot formation. But did you know that leeches have a special anticoagulant they secrete to prevent this so they can continue to feed?
