Highlights | Political Campaigns and Democratic Renewal in a Changing World

On 7 August 2026, the Bandaranaike Academy for Leadership & Public Policy (BALPP) hosted a special discussion with Mr. Saikat Chakrabarti, an American political strategist, climate policy advocate, and software engineer, on โ€œPolitical Campaigns and Democratic Renewal in a Changing World.โ€

Drawing on his experience in contemporary American politics, Mr. Chakrabarti shared valuable perspectives on political campaigns, democratic renewal, public policy, and the evolving dynamics of political engagement in a rapidly changing global environment.

The discussion was chaired by the Chairperson BALPP, Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge and was attend by a policy analysts, researchers and some politicians. The discussion offered an opportunity for thoughtful dialogue and reflection on the future of democratic leadership, political participation, and public policy.

Meet Our Expert | Ms. Dinusha Wickremesekera

The future of education needs leaders who can adapt, innovate, and drive meaningful transformation.

We are delighted to introduce Ms. Dinusha Wickremesekera, one of the expert facilitators of the Leading Change in Education โ€“ 12-Week Micro-Credential programme.

With over 15 years of experience in teaching, Ms. Wickremesekera brings valuable expertise in applied psychology, counselling, and education. Her academic background, including an MSc in Applied Psychology from Coventry University, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from BCIS, and a BA in Sociology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, provides a multidisciplinary perspective on understanding human behaviour, leadership, and personal development.

As a Lecturer and Psychotherapist, Ms. Wickremesekera will facilitate the "Self-Leadership and Emotional Intelligence" session, where participants will explore the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal effectiveness in developing impactful leadership practices.

We look forward to the valuable insights and practical perspectives she will bring to this programme as part of our distinguished panel of experts.
