Dear Dedunu- Friends,
after a tiring but successful week our three workmen from Germany took the weekend off to experience the beautiful Sri Lankan culture. On Sunday morning, they went on a trip to the town fisher market which is an experience to remember. After taking a relaxing sunbath and a refreshing swim in the sea they recovered for a new week of work on some deviled chicken, grilled fish and a chilled Lionbeer.
Even if it is a work- holiday - getting to know the country should be part of the experience.

Dear Dedunu- Friends,
Day 8: Currently our workmen have to cope with 35°C in the shade and very high humidity. But they give everything to stay in schedule.
After starting the day with a Chili- Onion- Paste for breakfast, which is hard work for a sensitive stomach but simply delicious, they already started sweating at the breakfast table.
Work on the construction site is going well as you can see on the pictures. On one of them you will see Lukas taking a little rest with his two “trainees”.
Greetings from our carpenters to their families, friends and all the people that follow our website and read all the articles.

Dear Dedunu- Friends,
working without reliable people and precise plans is not only difficult in Sri Lanka, but everywhere. That’s why before sending our three carpenters to Sri Lanka, we made up a plan about the necessary wood supply to rebuilt our broken roof structure. We then passed it on to Michael Kreitmeir who took care of it. Everything arrived right on time as promised.
Everyone who doesn´t know Michael Kreitmeir should check out the website of Little Smile (www.littlesmile.com.). As the head of the organization he will show you how to help people in our beautiful country by having just enough ambition and courage. Yes, they still exist; people who give up a lot to make the world a better place. He is one of them, one of the role- models that show how to turn positive energy into successful projects that are enriching for a vast range of reasons. Visiting a project like his one is inspiring. Thank you, Michael, for being a source of inspiration, for giving advice and for all the help you have already provided us with in the past few years.

Dear Dedunu-Friends,
for ten years, we have been part of the spring market in Rödelsee, which took place last weekend. Despite the bad weather, Saturday was successful. Luckily the weather changed on Sunday. It was chilly, but sunny. The remaining tombola tickets from the day before sold out very quickly and finally at 4 pm our job was carried out. Again, a remarkable success. Thanks to all the helping hands. We are grateful for anyone supporting us.

Dear Dedunu- Friends,
we have news from our construction site. First the roof was lifted off, now the roof truss had to be taken down.
Our three carpenters, who usually only work under German climate conditions, are slowly getting used to Sri Lankan temperatures. It´s not too easy, but the children provide them solicitously with water. Water by the way, is the first word the three Germans were taught by the children.
Communicating either in English or with gestures the children also offer their help on the construction site. They seem to be happy about the reconstruction of their residential building. Maybe they can also copy some useful tricks by watching the carpenters work.

Dear Dedunu- Friends,
just in time! Yesterday the children and Sarrath started to lift the roof off the main house. Today at nine our workmen started their job.
First statement: „It´s as hot as hell.“
Further information coming soon!

Dear Dedunu- Friends,
the news we have today are not as good as we would wish them to be. The pictures we received recently show that a part of the roof on the main house fell in due to some termites working their way through the wooden structures. Fortunately, nobody was injured. The children were moved temporarily to sleep in the education building.
We had to seal the roof provisionally, but it must be fixed properly as soon as possible. We still don´t know how much it will cost to fix the damage.
Further information coming soon.
