🎉 A Proud Milestone for Candidate Master Vinuka Wijerathne! ♟️

I am delighted to share that Candidate Master Vinuka Wijerathne has officially achieved a FIDE Standard Rating of 2200, reaching another significant milestone in his chess journey.

Just four years ago, Vinuka was an unrated player. Through unwavering dedication, hard work, and a genuine passion for chess, he has steadily progressed to reach this remarkable achievement.

This success is the result of a collective effort. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to his parents for their continuous encouragement and sacrifices and to all the supporters and well-wishers who have inspired and motivated him along the way.

As his coach, it has been a privilege to witness his growth, determination, and commitment to excellence. I am confident that this is only the beginning of even greater accomplishments.

The next goal is clear: International Master (IM).

Impressive Performances at the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2026

We are incredibly proud of Vinuka, Devhara, and Thehas for their commendable achievements at the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2026:

Vinuka secured 5th place in the under-14 category and also finished 5th in the Rapid event.

Devhara achieved 6th place in the Under 14 Girls category and 5th place in the Blitz event.

Thehas placed 7th in the Under 12 Open and finished 8th in the Blitz event for his age group.

Congratulations to all three for their outstanding performances, bringing pride to Sri Lanka on the international stage. We also extend our best wishes to the other academy students and all Sri Lankan representatives who participated.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to their parents, former and current coaches, and all well-wishers for their unwavering support in nurturing these talented chess players.
