Barbados week was pure sunshine from start to finish. ☀️🇧🇧

Between mixing Bajan fish cakes, dabbling in pottery painting, and going all out with Carnival hats, our days were filled with colour, flavour, and plenty of mess. Every sequin told a story. 🎨🍴🎭

This was our final country of the term. What a beautiful way to end our journey together. 🌎

WE'RE BACK! 🎉 It's been minutes since our last Materials in Minutes, but we're kicking things off with a classic.

🔵 The Montessori Geometric Cabinet 🔵

You might look at this and see shapes. But in the Montessori world? This is the key that unlocks a child's visual world!

Think of it as a "visual vocabulary" builder. Before a child can hold a pencil to draw a triangle, they need to know what a triangle feels like.

Here is the magic:

✨ The Detective Work: The k***s on each inset are placed specifically for the pencil grip. Tiny fingers trace the shape, sending muscle memory straight to the brain.

✨ The Vocabulary Explosion: It starts with "circle" and "square," but soon, your 3-year-old will be casually dropping words like "pentagon" or "trapezoid" into conversation. (Yes, really!)

✨ The Secret Preparation: This work isn't just about shapes. It's quietly preparing the hand for writing and the eye for recognising subtle differences in letters (like 'b' and 'd').

The lanterns are glowing bright and we can hardly believe we're already on Day 13 of the Chinese New Year celebrations! 🏮✨

Fun fact, in Chinese tradition, Day 13 is all about preparing for the upcoming Lantern Festival, lighting the way for a bright and prosperous year ahead. 🎆🥳

As we wind down the festive season, our hearts are so full as we look back on our special week of Chinese New Year activities in preschool. ❤️ It was such a joy watching our little ones explore and discover a beautiful culture from around the world. 🌏✨

From crafting their very own horse (did you know it symbolises speed and perseverance in Chinese culture? 🐴) to the curiosity in their eyes while learning about Chinese traditional tea preparation 🍵👘. And of course, the week was filled with hands-on fun! We made Tang Yuan together, those chewy & squishy glutinous rice balls that represent togetherness. 🍡🤲

But the absolute highlight? Watching them toss the Lo Hei with all their might while learning how to make prosperous wishes for their loved ones 🥢✨

What a wonderful way to learn about the world and its many traditions. 🌍❤️
