Held right here at AOD, come sit down with a collection of all the different hands involved in this project: Designers, coastal cleaners, fishermen- the very people you’ll be seeing on screen, whose work this is all revolves around! About the documentary:
Sri Lanka has one of the best rates of aluminium can recycling in the world…Which is even more interesting as it does not technically have an official recycling system to begin with. It is primarily, and incredibly, a practice of informal sector labour. So what if there was a way to turn this fact into something that better benefits the very people who most contribute to it? And how can we use design to get there? This project seeks to boost the inherent value of scrap aluminium, re-structuring its form and with it, the hands that money flows into.
